The Neighborhood Justice Center (NJC), provides free, confidential, and voluntary mediation to help Clark County residents resolve disputes quickly—without going to court. Mediation services are provided by a trained, neutral mediator. The NJC can assist in a variety of disputes, including neighborhood disputes, consumer/merchant disputes, employer/employee disputes, family disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, hospital-doctor/patient disputes, and parent/child disputes.

Why Mediate?
Mediation is a way for people to solve a disagreement with the help of a neutral helper, called a mediator. It is voluntary, which means people choose to do it. The mediator does not make decisions or tell anyone what to do. Instead, the people in conflict work together to make their own agreement.
The mediator’s job is to help everyone communicate clearly, think about different choices, and understand what each person needs. Because the people solve the problem themselves, they are usually more satisfied with mediation than going to court..

Success: Approximately 76% mediated disputes result in a written agreement.
Effectiveness: Mediated agreements are more likely to be fulfilled than court orders.
